About Lichen

Lichen was founded to bridge the growing divide between our fast-paced, tech-driven world and our need to reconnect with the natural rhythms, seasons, and cycles that sustain us. By leading people safely into wild places, I aim to support mental health and well-being for everyone, from young people facing new challenges to those on the front line of emergency response and care.

I’ve spent a lifetime exploring and working in wilderness areas. My experience spans mountain ranges across the globe — from winter climbs in the Scottish Highlands to summits in the Rockies and classic routes in the Alps.

As an accomplished climber, qualified mountain leader, and experienced dog musher, I bring patience, skill, and a steady hand to every adventure. Whether you’re planning a single-day hike or a multi-day expedition, I’m here to help you achieve your goals safely, from route planning and navigation to building confidence in wild places.

Alongside my work in the mountains, I serve as a volunteer crew member for the independent St Abbs Lifeboat. This role demands trust, commitment, and rigorous emergency response training. Your safety, both physical and psychological, is my top priority.

I combine my passion for the outdoors with my love of training alongside my dogs. My job is simple: to guide you safely in and out of the wilderness.

Tell me, what is it you plan to do with your one wild and precious life?
